There is a line you hear in Seoul dermatology clinics: “Everyone is selling salmon DNA. Only one company invented it.”
That company is PharmaResearch Co., Ltd. Their product is Rejuran.
Every PDRN serum currently sold at a Korean beauty counter — from Medicube to COSRX to Anua to VT — is built on science that PharmaResearch pioneered, patented, and commercialized as a medical injectable before any of those brands existed. Rejuran Healer, the injectable skin booster, became Korea’s most-requested aesthetic treatment in the early 2010s. It spawned a category. Now PharmaResearch has released a topical skincare line under the same name, built on a proprietary ingredient technology that their competitors genuinely cannot replicate.
This review covers what that technology actually is, how the topical products work, who they are for, and whether the premium price is justified against serums that cost less than half as much.
The backstory that changes the context
PharmaResearch launched Rejuran Healer as a medical injectable in 2014–2015. The product received MFDS (Ministry of Food and Drug Safety) clearance in Korea and spread to clinical aesthetic practices across Asia, Europe, and eventually North America. The treatment protocol involves micro-injections of polynucleotides into the mid-dermis, activating fibroblast proliferation and collagen synthesis at the structural level.
The viral nickname — “salmon sperm injections” — was simultaneously accurate and alienating, which created a strange marketing paradox: enormous awareness paired with enormous hesitation. Patients flew to Seoul specifically for the treatment. The science became mainstream.
The catch: a clinical course costs $300–600+ per session, requires three to four sessions, and needs to be repeated every six to twelve months. The total annual cost for Rejuran injections runs into the thousands.
The topical line is the answer to that gap. And it works from a fundamentally different starting point than every competitor: rather than using standard hydrolyzed salmon DNA, PharmaResearch developed a proprietary ingredient called c-PDRN®, manufactured through their patented DOT® Technology (DNA Optimizing Technology).
What c-PDRN® actually is
The core problem with topical PDRN is molecular size. Standard PDRN fragments are too large to pass through intact stratum corneum via passive diffusion. This is the honest limitation that most brands either ignore or obscure.
Rejuran’s solution: their DOT® manufacturing process reduces PDRN molecules to 670 times smaller than average pore size. The resulting c-PDRN® is not standard PDRN diluted into a cosmetic base — it is a structurally modified ingredient, engineered specifically for topical bioavailability.
No other brand in the consumer skincare market can use c-PDRN® or DOT® Technology. They are patented. When you buy a Rejuran topical product, you are using the only PDRN serum in the world that directly descends from the same IP as the clinical injectables. When you buy any other PDRN serum, you are buying a cosmetic formulation that borrows the ingredient concept without the foundational delivery technology.
This distinction does not mean every other PDRN product is ineffective — they work, within the limitations of standard topical PDRN delivery. It means Rejuran has a credible argument for why its formulation should penetrate better and produce more clinically proximate results.
The product line: what to buy
Rejuran’s topical range spans cleansers, toners, ampoules, creams, and masks. The core products worth focusing on are the ampoules.
Rejuran Turnover Ampoule c-PDRN® 0.5%
The flagship. This is the product that established Rejuran’s topical reputation and the one that appears at Sephora alongside the full Amazon catalog.
At 0.5% c-PDRN®, it is the highest-concentration c-PDRN product in the standard lineup. Supporting ingredients are carefully minimal: sodium hyaluronate for surface hydration, adenosine (itself an A2A receptor agonist that works the same pathway as PDRN — a deliberate doubling of the primary mechanism), and allantoin for soothing.
The texture is a clear, slightly viscous serum. Not watery, not heavy. It sits between an essence and a serum in feel, absorbs within 30 seconds, and leaves no residue. The finish is luminous rather than matte — skin looks like it has been hydrated from the inside.
Available in 30ml and 50ml formats.
Rejuran Dual Effect Ampoule DOT DUAL c-PDRN®
The Dual Effect uses two distinct PDRN types — c-PDRN® and n-PDRN — alongside ceramide NP, squalane, trehalose, and cholesterol. Where the Turnover Ampoule is built around maximizing PDRN concentration, the Dual Effect adds a barrier-nourishment layer that makes it a better fit for dry, mature, or post-procedure skin.
The dual-PDRN approach gives two simultaneous activation patterns: c-PDRN® for the engineered penetration benefit, n-PDRN (natural PDRN) for a broader polynucleotide chain length profile. The ceramides and squalane provide lipid replenishment that supports the physical barrier structure PDRN is biochemically rebuilding.
Choose the Dual Effect over the Turnover Ampoule if your skin is dry or compromised, if you are using this as a post-procedure recovery product, or if you want more moisture-barrier support in the same step.
Rejuran Advanced Anti-Aging Retinol + c-PDRN® Serum
The most aggressive product in the topical lineup. c-PDRN® combined with retinol and palmitoyl tripeptide-38, plus sodium ascorbyl phosphate (a stable vitamin C derivative) and adenosine.
This formulation runs three collagen-synthesis mechanisms simultaneously: PDRN via A2A receptor activation, retinol via nuclear retinoic acid receptor signaling, and peptides via direct fibroblast communication. The c-PDRN® does double duty here — it stimulates regeneration via its own pathway while buffering the irritation that retinol typically causes by suppressing the inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6) that create retinol sensitivity.
This is not a beginner product. It is for experienced skincare users who already tolerate retinol, who have established a PDRN foundation, and who want to push the anti-aging stack to its logical conclusion. Evening use only.
Rejuran Recover c-PDRN® Lifting Ampoule
The premium product. At $129 for 14 x 2ml sealed vials, this is priced and packaged to echo the clinical aesthetic. Individual vials mirror the single-use ampoules used in medical settings; the format implies clinical-grade concentration and freshness, since each vial is opened immediately before use.
The formula uses “high concentration” c-PDRN® (Rejuran does not publish an exact percentage for this product) alongside their patented MF Complex, Centella Asiatica Complex, and adenosine. The MF Complex is described as a proprietary cell-communication matrix — the specific ingredients are not published, which is frustrating from a transparency standpoint but consistent with Rejuran’s IP-protection approach across the line.
Who is this for: people who have used the Turnover Ampoule, established clear skin tolerance and response, and want to escalate. Or people coming off clinical PDRN injections who want to maintain results topically between sessions.
Rejuran vs the competition: honest comparison
The three dominant PDRN brands below Rejuran in price are COSRX, Anua, and Medicube. They are all good products. The comparison requires being specific about what you are paying for.
| Rejuran Turnover | COSRX 5 PDRN | Anua PDRN HA | Medicube Peptide Serum | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PDRN type | Proprietary c-PDRN® 0.5% | 5 standard PDRN types | Encapsulated salmon PDRN | Standard PDRN + peptides |
| Clinical IP | Direct from injectable manufacturer | None | None | None |
| Penetration tech | DOT® — 670× smaller than pore | Standard topical delivery | Capsule-burst release | Standard topical delivery |
| Price / 30ml | ~$52 | ~$50 / 100ml | ~$45 | ~$38–45 |
| Best for | Clinical-level anti-aging, repair | Budget anti-aging | Brightening, glass skin | Dual-mechanism collagen |
The honest verdict: COSRX delivers significantly more volume for similar money, which matters if you are using PDRN in a full-body or generous face application context. Anua and Medicube are excellent daily-use products with strong formulation logic.
But none of them have c-PDRN®. None of them have DOT® Technology. None of them can point to the clinical injectable research and say “our topical product is the same IP, reformulated.”
Whether that distinction is worth paying $52 for 30ml versus $50 for 100ml is a personal calculation. For someone who has already tried mass-market PDRN and wants to escalate to the most credible option, Rejuran is the answer. For someone building a first PDRN routine on a budget, COSRX or Medicube first — then Rejuran if you want more.
Where to buy
Rejuran’s distribution has expanded significantly. They are now at Sephora in the US, available on Amazon through the official REJURAN Cosmetics storefront, and on the brand’s own website (rejuranusa.com).
Amazon is typically the fastest and most price-competitive option. The 50ml Turnover Ampoule offers meaningfully better per-ml value than the 30ml for committed users.
How to fit Rejuran into a routine
Rejuran ampoules are serum-step products. Apply after toner/essence, before moisturizer. Three to four drops patted in gently. Allow 30 seconds before the next layer.
If you are using the Retinol + c-PDRN® Serum: evening only, after toner, followed by a rich moisturizer to offset any retinol dryness. Do not combine with other retinoids in the same routine.
The Recover Lifting Ampoule in vial format: use one full vial per application, two to three times per week as an intensive treatment rather than daily. The vial protocol mirrors clinical usage patterns.
For sensitive skin specifically: start with the Dual Effect Ampoule rather than the Turnover, since the ceramide and squalane additions buffer the introduction. Once skin adapts over two to three weeks, you can layer the Turnover Ampoule on top as an additional step.
Final assessment
Rejuran occupies a position no other brand in topical PDRN skincare currently holds: the original, with the patents, from the company that invented the injectable category. The c-PDRN® ingredient is genuinely different from what competitors are using. The DOT® Technology penetration argument is credible in a space where most PDRN absorption claims are vague.
The price premium is real. At $52–70 for 30–50ml, Rejuran costs more than most alternatives per unit volume. The justified-premium argument holds for users who have already confirmed PDRN response and want the most technically advanced topical delivery available. It holds for post-procedure users maintaining injection results. It does not hold as a starting point if you have never used PDRN before — start with something more affordable, confirm your skin responds, then consider Rejuran for the next level.
The Turnover Ampoule in the 50ml format is the entry point we would recommend: the clearest demonstration of c-PDRN® technology at the most reasonable price in the line.
